<reviewbody>sorry reviewers but you have decieved me... this is no where close to a 5 star recording although it is nice to see a RCMH with acoustic set. i hope in the future reviewers review the recording and not the setlist. lots of hiss - i guarantee that there were multiple cass gen here. look elsewhere for good '80s shows!</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>This is a great show, if a tad understated. Hypnotic versions of Cassidy and Birdsong in the acoustic set. Excellent Jack Straw, Cold Rain, Ramble On. The Fire on the Mountain (which appears cut to pieces on Dead Set) through the end of the show is pretty close to perfect. FOM>NFA has an interesting aquatic feeling. The drumming is particularly tasteful throughout the show, not flashy but working intricately with the guitarists (I know that sounds like an odd thing to appreciate but it impresses me the more I hear it). I prefer the SBD to the AUD here, despite complaints of hiss, only because the crowd was so loud at Radio City (the East coast crowd roar is deafening during the spring and fall that whole year anyway).</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Terry, I don't know what hiss you're talking about. The audience is more prominent during the acoustic set (natch!), but both sets sound clear as a bell streaming over my stereo. Thanks for the hi-Q streams, archive.org! Smart way to ease the strain on your servers, and save us from downloads we won't like. 5 stars for the acoustic, 4 for the electric for an average 4.5</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>I listened to one tune, Jack Straw, just now and have already the aud. version and I feel that this one is better. Anyone with a decent equalizer can make this a 4- recording. The rest of the show, SBD, is downloading as I write this.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>I don't hear any significant hiss on the electric sets. The acoustic set has audience noise, but nothing out of the ordinary. Let's remember that this was an acoustic set, and as such can be a little noisier due to the instrument mics, etc.

I think this show is certainly worth having as is, and I'm pretty anal about sound quality.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>for 10-31-80. This run of shows gets a lot of attention for the acoustic sets. However, the final electric set is brilliant. The unconventional placement of Franklins' and Fire make for gooood listenin'. It is very clear that Dead Set was a chopped version.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>It’s almost worth doing a song by song review of this show. The recording changes so much from song to song. The acoustic set, which is from an audience tape starts off distorted and doesn’t get much better until Cassidy. The second set, which is electric has similar EQ problems starting with Jack Straw and Cold Rain & Snow. However, it sounds like it’s from the soundboard or pre-FM mix; I don’t know the difference so please excuse my ignorance. The crowd must have been really loud in Radio City because at times the recording sounds like it could be audience because there is so much bleed into the vocal mics. By Deal the sound has come around pretty nicely, some distortion here and there but better than the start of the electric set. Lost Sailor and Saint sound as good as they do on Dead Ahead if you’ve ever seen it. Franklin’s Tower sound awesome as well. The reason you should download this show is for the Space into Fire on the Mountain. There is nothing like it and I mean nothing. Absolute brilliant performance. The EQ gets weird again around GDTRFB. Good Lovin’ and Uncle John’s Band is also okay. I anxiously await a better recording because this show was great. At the very least download the Space>Fire!!!!! Performance 5 stars. Recording quality 3 at best. I eagerly await quality Radio City shows to complement the Warfield shows.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>I like the '80 Warfield/Radio City shows and I see no reason to avoid them, even if the sound quality leaves something to be desired. However, this source isn't exactly the ideal SBD source, with the first two songs being either mixed poorly or performed sloppily. Probably both. But thankfully the band and the engineer clear things up by Little Sadie. I don't know what the guy below me is talking about; an AUD tape for the acoustic set? It's obviously a SBD.

As for the electric set, it's quite great. It's no May '77, but the Franklins>Drums>Space>Fire is one of the best of 1980; I believe that Fire shows up on Dead Set and the rest of the 2nd set is equally delicious. Get it.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Ok people, the complaints are out of control. Although there are some audio problems with the equipment and the recording suffers slightly, this is an "excellent" copy. Keep in mind the time frame of this show. It's almost 30 years old and digital was just entering the public realm at the time. Almost every analog recording is going to have some signal displacement (hiss). As stated by another listener, this can be easily corrected. I am going to 'remaster' this show myself. If anyone wants a copy, feel free to e-mail me. I do this for many shows and dispense them openly.

Just enjoy the tunes people. We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to relive these incredible events. This run of shows are epic and not to be missed. Jerry's guitar work during these shows is something to cherish, just simply amazing!

Once again, thank you guys for allowing us drown in the sounds. Spread the love and enjoy...

<reviewbody>Sometimes importance is not so obvious. Did Nobel know that the ultimate value of his earnings from developing TNT would be the creation of a household word associated with peace and good works? This recornding is important because Garcia says "Bass is an essential part of music. We can't play without the bass." There, it's been recorded for eternity.
On topic, IMHBTR is sweet and the Cassidy is better than the one on Reckoning.</reviewbody>
